Who is John Robinson??

And why would MF DOOM produce his whole album?

That’s actually and easy question. Lil’ Sci is John Robinson – and John Robinson is he. It took me awhile to understand that because I’m slow. I know Lil’ Sci from the group Scienz of Life [<–Very dope,Ima Learnya!], and also from his various appearances on crazy tracks over the years, like the joint on Lyricist Lounge Vol. 1. Lil Sci is one of those dudes who always ends up popping up on a joint I like. In recent years he’s been doing triple duty not only as Lil Sci, but John Robinson the artist, as well as John Robinson the  President of Shaman Works. To bring you up to speed on that label, the roster consists of ILLities like Blackberry Jones, DJ K.O. and K Banger. In my mind, they get best label award in 05′ for releasing Emanon’s official official joint– The Waiting Room. But enough about his artists? What about his new album!!?

John Robinson – Outside Perspective [prod. MF DOOM]
This track has been floating around for years. It’s actually one of my favorite DOOM beats ever, period. Can’t get enough of it? Check our the Ghostface Remix blend  from homie DJ DUB on Heavy Metal Vol. 3

Who Is This Man? is produced entirely by MF DOOM. I can’t say exactly how they hooked up, but Robinson has a feature on Take Me To Your Leader back in 03. Legend has it that Who Is took 4 years too release.  So in all technicalities it’s old material.  In 06′ it seemed like it was coming out with some heavy promo and vids to no avail. Now it has finally seen the light of day on the US side, [the import came out end of last year, [I copped that version cause I gots to keep it jazzy]. The US release is coming out of the High Water Music camp. There are LIMITED COPIES being pressed so you might want to cop it now. You don’t wanna be a loser and see it for $150 on Amazon marketplace do you? [joint is already sold out there]?

John Robinson – Black Gold [prod. MF DOOM]
This joint right here, SICK!

The album is a short, clean, good play. Robinson comes across very honest and genuine [prolly cause he’s not his alter ego] and his skills remain intact during the whole album. Production wise, this is some of DOOM’s best. Most entertaining award on the album goes to the clips from an investigative news report on the internet serial killer, John Robinson. Cop it Fat Beats because it won’t be there for long.
