DJ DUB x DJ VICTORIOUS – War of the Worlds [VINTAGE MIXTAPE]

June 13th, 2013 by

Who’d A Thunk it!?? CRAZY!

From the homie DJ DUB:

So legend has it that a mixtape I did with my man DJ Victorious back in 2005, War Of The Worlds, was the first cd that had an image of Joell Ortiz on the cover.  Sharing the cover with Crooklyn legend AZ, it was awe-striking situation for all parties involved.  The legend continues that Joell even had the poster up in his living room.  Shouts to Victorious for having the insight to recognize the potential of a former Jo-ell Quickman (i still have that 12” from the now-defunct Rawkus Records) who is now a regular in your hip-hop rotation. #Yaowa

Go ahead and check it out and relive some hip-hop history!

Black Milk – Synth or Soul [ALBUM, STREAM]

April 22nd, 2013 by

Being the Black Milk aficionados that we are; the question to his latest instrumental EP is very simple indeed….

Black-Milk-Synth-Or-Soul-608x608

It’s Soul Fool!!!!

Being a Black Milk fan can be hard at times because, you want everyone to be able to explore their musical boundaries and interests, but let’s not get it twisted; Black Milk is no Flying Lotus. Waaay back in day [2005] we were drawn to Black Milk’s seemingly effortless production style chalk full of drums, guitar licks perfectly looped samples. This instrumental album kind of embodies his work since then – he’s said in his verses and interviews how he likes to changes things up – but if you’re good at something, why stunt it?

Synth whack, Bring Soul Back.

Nissim (Formerly D.Black) – Unbelievable [MP3]

We were first interested to Seattle’s Nissim on Jake One’s White Van Music, then he was called D. Black ; and it was an unforgettable song off that album.  Although the message remains relatively the same; its nice to hear his sound progress.  Nissim and Yosef Brown are responsible for the production which incorporates a lot of different elements.
