Love LockDown: All Remixes *updated 12.3

December 3rd, 2008 by

*originally posted Sept. 18th

So if you haven’t heard Kanye’s new song Love LockDown, this isn’t the place to hear it. Try a gazillion other sites. What you came here to get is the REMIXES!! Yes ladies and gentleman, there is already a growing number of remixes to the song and HERE at THIS post is where you will have access to all of them. Check back frequently, as more come out, they will be placed here. [Note: these are verse remixes, no offense to the production remixes]

Without further ado here are the Love LockDown Remixes by Rank:

A NEW NUMBER 1!!!

1. Craig David

Who woulda thought Craig David of all people woulda made it to top of the list. Real Talk, he BEASTED.  Granted, it wasn’t a complete  freestyle, [i think the patois was] but just the same–he performed better than a lot of dudes in the studio…ima keep my eye out on this dude again, he was cool with the singing, and his little raps, but lately i thought he was completely dance, but let me find out…..

2. Articulate – “You Lose”

Don’t know where this dude, Articulate, came from but he beasted on this track.  He did the track more than justice and took a completely different spin on the melody.  I’ll keep you posted on this dude.   We’ll see if anyone else comes out to take this cat’s spot.

3. Jin

Jin was the first to come out with a Remix to Love Lock Down before the mastered version even hit the net. I must say I never really got into Jin too tough, but this track reminds us why his name always stays around.

4. Apathy

As far as I’m concerned Apathy and Jin are tied at number 2, but he went in hardbody. Apathy has been doin his thing for a minute, solo and with the DemiGodz, but I didn’t expect him to jump on this track in particular. The way he did it, is the only way he knows how…he murdered it! Viva La Underground!

5. Dex

This remix came out much later than all the others, but it allowed Dex to take a different take on the song. An entirely different melody, and we’re feeling it more than Kanye’s original vocoder melody.

The rest of the list…

Big Six is Living Proof

December 3rd, 2008 by

Artist: Big Six
Location: Asbury Park, New Jersey
Styles: Streets, Realism, Hustler’s Life, Mellow, Laid Back
Albums/Mixtapes On Deck: Your Next Favorite Rapper  hosted by DJ Lazy K [coming soon]

There are a million and one stories of how to make it in the industry and a million more yet to be told. In these times, it’s hard to tell an artist that a magical chance occurrence [without a reality show] could launch them to their dreams. But that my friends, is exactly what happened when Big Six stepped on the scene at the 2003 Source Awards in Miami. Armed with an ingenious marketing plan and a hustler’s maneuverability, Jersey’s own Big Six is after the crown.

Big Six – Living Proof [prod. J Banga]

The first thing I did, i made up some shirts that had my name on them and where I was from and then I made my CD to have all that on it too.  So when i had went down there, i was in the streets pushin’ or sellin’  them or giving them away…There was a lot of people out there pushing CD’s but a lot of people didn’t have their whole situation together, they were dressed in regular clothes, so it was easier to pick me out of a crowd.  People were seeing me, and I caught the ear of a couple people, and things jumped off when I got back to New York.”

A Tale of Two Mikkies

Mikkey Halsted – Liquor Store [prod. 1120] [directed by Rico & Da Visionaryz]
Another beautiful video and poetic ass song.

Download: Mikkey Halsted – Liquor Store [prod. 1120]

The other night, I had an interesting disagreement with this cat who tried to tell me that Mickey Factz was out before Mikkey Halsted. Now being that I’m a living Hip Hop encyclopedia, I knew I was right, but I let the dude plead his case anyway. Conclusion: Mickey Factz came before Mikkey Halsted because he heard of Halsted after Factz.

What type of ass backwards logic is that? That’s like saying the Black Eyed Peas first album was Elephunk or Common got better as an MC on “Be”. That’s the same logic as America wasn’t discovered until Europeans claimed it. Bullshit! I wouldn’t expect him to know that Halsted’s been on Ca$h Money classics like Hood Rich, Big Money, Heavy Weight, or Birdman–but I would think that the self proclaimed Kanye stan, would remember him on the High School Graduate Tape, or on Rhymefest’s Blue Collar which was bumped very heavily in ’06.

Right Now, you can cop his latest mixtape– Uncrowned King hosted by V-Dubb [also in sidebar]

It’s not like he was a forgettable rapper either. Listening to his “older” tracks, he stands out like he always did. But this ladies and gentleman is a case of what goes on too much in the game right now. Bandwagon syndrome. That is all.

Black Milk is BACK with Production CRACK!

September 18th, 2008 by

Last year, Producer/Rapper Black Milk released arguably one of the best Hip Hop albums of all 2007 [and beyond?].  Popular Demand was my personal soundtrack since it’s been released and since then I’ve been able to get my Black Milk production fix on his various joints on various mixtapes and albums.  But he’s got a new album!!!!!

Tronic, dropping October 28th!

To hold you over till then, he’s released a free Beat Tape [via myspace] which samples a series of tracks from  Purple one..

The Mighty Underdogs–Album Release Oct. 14, 2008

September 12th, 2008 by

So I didn’t want to post supergroup The Mighty Underdog’s video for single [?] “Gunfight ft. MF DOOM” because I didn’t want to scare you away.  I mean, I liked it.  Did i love it?  …Not so much [don't be mad].  I like the video more than the song and that says a lot considering I have a preconceived bias for all things MF Doom.   But don’t worry, it’s still going to be a great fall.

The rest of the tracks on the album are awesome.  Of course they would be when you have the Gift of Gab, Lateef and Headnodic all in one album. “Droppin’ Science Fiction” drops October 14th and is  available for pre-order already. [you can also listen to the tracks yourself] Unfortunately, the download capabilities for them are virgin tight.

So for right now, I tracked down this song from their  already released EP entitled “The Prelude” [NoJayZ]
