A-Alikes New Documentary – “Ballot or the Bullet”

So  A-Alikes are releasing a documentary & 4 -song soundtrack under Guerilla Nation entitled , “The Ballot or the Bullet”, featuring commentary from Chuck D, M-1 of Dead Prez and Immortal Technique among others. The film directed by Paul Biedrzycki [Talib Kweli’s “Eat To Live” and Lansing-Dreiden “Dividing Island”] will be released October 30th. The documentary follows the A-Alikes over the course of the three months leading up to the 2008 Presidential Election, while addressing the upcoming election with an issue that has always been in the American landscape, but brought to the forefront over 50 years ago by Malcolm X,

How do oppressed people gain freedom: through participation in the political system or through armed rebellion?

I’m actually looking forward to see this film because, these dudes right here?  As real as you could get.  A lot of  times, artists have the stigma of being labeled “too political” or “too conscious” with their music, as if it is some kind of high horse.  Does politics not affect everybody? A-Alikes [along with dead prez] have always kept their message of polical freedom for those who are struggling in mind.  I’ve seen these guys perform numerous times over the years, but the first time I’ve seen them, was at some club near NYU [no ofense/yes offense?] and they was burning money on stage!  I don’t think the show resonated with the crowd much because they couldn’t relate, how could they?
