Rocawear Releases “That’s Rocawear” Campaign Video Featuring Wordspit The ILLest & The ILLest Band

Since kicking off a new online campaign, Rocawear has displayed its hopes of expanding its brand into the mainstream. In this series of 37 music videos Rocawear features a selection of poets, musicians, dancers and artists from all walks of life. In this specific video, Wordspit The ILLest & The ILLest exhibit today’s mainstream appeal through their epic renditions of System Of A Down’s “Chop Suey” and Jay-Z’s “You Don’t Know”.

It is obvious that Wordspit is definitely a star in the making. Add a resume that includes a national ad campaign with McDonald’s; an Underground Music Award for Most Dynamic Solo Artist (2010); features on sites like 2DopeBoyz, Capcom, The Source, XXL, DefSounds, HipHopDX; and, Wordspit isn’t merely a contender – but, an all out force to be reckoned with. Accompanied by violinist Jordan Ware, bass guitarist Tyrell, guitarist Duke, Powers on drums, Cocoa Sarai on vocals and DJ Laser, Wordspit creates an all out auditory and creative experience with his band “The ILLest”.

From performing at such local New York venues as South Paw & Santos Party House, Wordspit The ILLest & The ILLest have expanded their brand through performances at RocNation, The Knitting Factory, Gramercy Theatre, and New Meadowlands Stadium.  The release of this video leads to an upcoming concert benefitting HIV Prevention, Live in Union Square Park on September 8th, 2011 sponsored by Rocawear, Artful Dodger & MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation.

Jay-Z and Rocafella Records and remains today as the number one urban lifestyle brand in the world. Rocawear celebrates how the culture has evolved and how Rocawear has not only evolved with the culture but has been a major force in communicating that evolution around the world. Jay-Z wants people to understand that Rocawear is not just suited for one particular group or culture. “It’s all walks of life,” says Jigga. “When I played the Glastonbury music festival people said a hip-hop artist couldn’t play a rock festival. But culture isn’t segmented like that any more. There’s so much cross-pollenization [sic] and the same thing is true for clothes.”
