VOTE TODAY….

Even if you can’t, make sure everyone you know who can vote, gets the fuck up and votes. I’m not going to write a 25 paragraph essay on the importance of voting, I don’t think I can stress how important it is, so please vote; and enjoy Murs, Mos Def, and Wyclef Jean talk about what they would do if they were president.  they all had some really good points, ‘cept Wyclef, son, like why you just perform your song? I don’t think they told him him to…nevermind…check em out and VOTE!

If Mos Def Were President…..

No voting on one day,  a voting weekend BONANZA!! [ha!] Hundred year moratorium on “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, “In Da Club”, “Dippin it low” and “Shawty”???  Fuck it, I’m down.

If Murs Were president…..

To have learned another language fluently?? Hmm, they try to do that with the Regents, but unless you live in California or New York, you don’t get it. Besides, unless you’re a kid genius like me, Spanish and French since the 8th grade won’t work….Besides son, we need to get some more languages, can we get some Hindi and Chinese in public school?? They learning English, we need to flip it…

MURS – New Video “Can It Be”

Now usually I dont give videos their own post, but c’mon, it’s MURS we talkin bout….. I’m gonna go ahead and assume that David Belle or some of them parkour dudes are featured in this video, crazy foot chase scene!

If you haven’t picked up the album, yet, I don’t know how many times I have to tell you. This track was produced by Scoop Deville, the same cat who did Snoop’s Life of Da Party and the only reason why I liked that joint because the production was crazy.

So I’m going to try my best to keep you all abreast [ha] of  weekly underground and indie hip hop releases.  In the music industry, Tuesday is the day for album releases; don’t ask me why, but I think it has something to do with Billboard Magazine, shipping schedules and your mom.  Anyway, every Tuesday is when albums get released, and right here is your spot to check out all of the indie releases.  [Well not all of them, but the best ones, ones that I haven't touch upon before are coming in later posts.]

MURS For President is out Next Week! September 30th!!

MURS- “Better Than The Best” – 2008

If there is one guy who has paid dues and respects to the Underground Gods, its MURS. Now if you haven’t heard of MURS, its not too late; but just know that he isn’t some fly by night, neon pink hipster rapper. He’s been doing his thing for a long time now and it’s nice to see him actually get some shine on his first major label release.

He’s been out since 97′ according to my collection and since then he has released 6 Solo albums, and 12 collaborations, including the critically acclaimed projects with producer 9th Wonder [Murs 3:16, The 9th edition and Murray's Revenge] and Atmosphere’s Slug as the group Felt [A Tribute to Christina Ricci and A Tribute to Lisa Bonet]

So, what he be about?
Well, as an avid listener I can tell you Murs is witty, clever, funny and serious at times. His albums are a reflection of his state of mind at the time and as his earlier work can seem rather campy, over the years you can hear his progression. On his upcoming album, fans of the underground Murs will not be disappointed with his major label affiliation and new fans will get a chance to hear what us backpackers have been enjoying for years.
