Valentine’s Day is yet another day where women ask men to revoke our caveman intuitions, get all sensitive and demand our money be spent taking them out and buying gifts.  This year, I will unite my manly brothers and rebel against our lovers to declare this Valentine’s Day a Man’s Valentine’s Day, full of sandwiches and kung-fu movies.  But since I’m having trouble finding any recruits, sneaker companies supply a reliable plan b, and I’m sure it won’t be the only Plan B in use that day.  It’s obvious that men hate shopping for women, shit just never works out right, however, we do know our way around our local sneaker shop.  Thankfully brands like Nike and Reebok offer exclusive Valentine’s Day styled kicks for your lady friend.  Saving us the time spent at a Macys counter getting high off perfume.  Hey, I’m sure you’ll even find a way to sneak a pair or two home for yourself.

De La Nike

Nike does it all, sneakers to music.  That’s right my ill-informed friend, MUSIC! And if Nike is going to do something, they go legendary. Which is why Nike commissioned the legendary hip hop trio of De La Soul for an exclusive release.  To commemorate the 20th anniversary of 3 Feet and Rising (which was the bases for Nike and De La Soul’s first collab) the two have released ARE YOU IN?: Nike+ Original Run, De La Soul’s first material released in 5 years.  The album is only available through iTunes for $9.99 and is part of the continuing series of releases through the “Nike+ Sports Music” section on iTunes.

ARE YOU IN: Nike+ Original Run, with production by the Chicago based DJ/production duo Flosstradamus, is an album written specifically with runners in mind, but can be enjoyed by all listeners. In a recent interview about the Nike project, Posdnuos explained, “When we first heard about this project we were psyched on the challenge. We pride ourselves on being able to get bodies moving, so it was cool to do it with a specific goal in mind – giving runners the sonic fuel to clock some miles.”

With the All-Star game approaching, as well as the slam dunk contest, in which my homie Dwight Howard is going to beast, the infamous sneaker customizer DJ Clark Kent has teamed up with Nike once again to spawn two limited edition Air Force 1s.  The two Er Forces will feature the Phoenix Suns colorway, which happens to be the city hosting the all-star game.  The black pair will be made of basketball textured panels, while the grey pair will have patent leather.  Both will also feature unique laces and lace locks by accessory company Starks.  A release is expected around all-star weekend (Feb 13-15), with the black joints dropping at select Nike Quickstrike* retailers and the grey version dropping at Hyperstrike** accounts (the most exclusive of the exclusive).

To take a break from the hip hop/fashion world that this website is concerned with, does anyone have any predictions on All-Star weekend?  Who’s going to win MVP? Who’s going to win the dunk contest?  What rapper will get shot and who will do the shooting?  [Editor's Note: EAST ALL DAY [so id like 2 hope]  Most Likely to get Duffed in the face:  Souljah Boy, BowWow or Yung Berg]

…Still Got My Nike Boots

October 16th, 2008 by

Over the last few years Nike has been big on hybrid sneakers, using materials and designs from multiple kicks to spawn a superior sneaker child. So it’s no surprise, (alright maybe it’s a little surprising, I mean these shits are flashy), when Nike combines the famous Foamposite with the east coast winter favorite, the Goadome, to create an offspring named the Foamdome. To back up the boot as a viable winter choice, the inside of the boot is lined with Outlast material to ensure a perfect temperature and moisture balance. Pretty dope huh?

Release date is set for late November/early December, just in time for those fucked up New York winters (damn it’s getting too close). But you may want to start saving bank now or ask for these as a Crit-Ma present, because suggested retail prince is $225.

The black joints are sooooo pretty…….

The Supreme Team

I know everyone has switch their Nike purchases from Air Force 1’s to Dunks, but Nike has been coming strong with some crazy Air Forces in recent months. So it goes as no surprise that Nike will be releasing the Supreme Canvas pack at some point this year (sorry on broad release date). These kicks will be made of chambray, a lightweight fabric woven with white threads across a color wrap, and will come in three solid colors. The white leather midsole sits on a gumsole bottom to complete the package. These will only hit select Nike dealers so keep an eye out.
